The Dell XPS is an interesting laptop — not only was it the top pick in our best $750 to $1000 round-up, but it's also our favorite in the next tier up. It's all for good reason too, it's a stunning laptop. The company has managed to pack in a 13.3-inch display into an extremely small chassis with some exciting internals like an i5 Core processor, 8GB of RAM and an SSD.
Bottom line: The best laptop you can buy in this segment is the Dell XPS 13.
One more thing: While we recommend the XPS 13, should you need an XPS laptop with slightly more screen real estate, the XPS 15 starts at about $1000 and can be heavily configured.
