Apple fixes October 2018 Update iCloud bug, Microsoft removes upgrade block

Use iCloud? Now you can upgrade to the Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

Apple this week updated iCloud for Windows, resolving a stubborn bug that prevented the cloud service from updating and syncing shared albums on the Windows 10 October 2018 Update.

The issue, which was seen with iCloud for Windows version 7.7.0.27, initially caused Microsoft to put an upgrade block in place for PCs that were already running iCloud, preventing them from installing the October 2018 Update.

"To ensure a seamless experience, Microsoft is blocking devices with iCloud for Windows (version 7.7.0.27) software installed from being offered Window 10, version 1809 until this issue has been resolved," the company said at the time.

Microsoft's support page has now been updated to indicate that the issue is now resolved with the release of iCloud for Windows version 7.8.1. Users are encouraged to upgrade to the new version of iCloud before downloading and installing the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, to avoid any issues.
