Dell's USB-C dock is a better buy than HP's

Best answer: The HP USB-C dock is quite expensive and lacks some of the features of the superior and more affordable Dell USB-C dock, while folks looking for a portable solution should check out the Capshi USB-C hub.

It's not bad, but you can do better

The HP USB-C dock isn't inherently bad since it provides a ton of connectivity over one single cable from your USB-C equipped laptop. It adds regular USB ports, Ethernet, and enough other ports to hook up a couple of displays.

However, at a list price of $219 at HP, it's already at a disadvantage when you can spend significantly less and get a Dell USB-C dock instead, especially when that dock is actually a little bit better than the HP one.

Dell's USB-C dock is better and cheaper

The first thing that's better about Dell's universal USB-C dock is that it costs a fair bit less than the HP one. Even hunting around for a deal on the HP dock, the Dell one is less expensive at $139. You'll get significant savings here.
