Xbox and PC platformer 'Super Lucky's Tale' gets unexpected tropical expansion

No one expected to see Lucky again so soon, but we're glad he's back.

A week ago, Super Lucky's Tale developer Playful said that it planned on releasing an expansion or sequel. Unfortunately, the studio didn't make any statements other than a cryptic post on the game's Twitter account. The game is an adorable platformer which launched on Xbox One and PC a few months ago. The title received mixed reviews from critics, so it was unclear if the game would ever receive a sequel or expansion in the future.

Immortal Redneck Xbox One review: Silly fun, but rough around the edges

Immortal Redneck is a unique blend of dungeon crawling and arcade-like, first-person shooting that, while fun to play, feels lacking in a few areas.

Set in the sand dunes of Egypt, in Immortal Redneck for Xbox One you play as a stereotypical redneck who aims to fight his way to the top of Egypt's ancient pyramids using a wide array of guns, skills, and abilities.

It's a nonsensical premise, and it's clear from the start that Immortal Redneck aims to offer a silly, casual experience. Though there are a few notable flaws, it's still a good time and should be on your radar if you're looking for some easygoing fun.

Enhance Gaming's vibrating earbuds are intriguing but limited

Enhance Gaming produces an intriguing vibrating earbud headset that delivers tactile feedback in games. It's a novel idea, but is it something that could catch on?

When I first heard about Enhance Gaming's "Tactical Vibration" headphones, I was skeptical. Now that I've gone ears-on, I have to say, they're something special.

Enhance Gaming makes a wide array of relatively affordable-looking gaming products, from mouse mats to keyboards and headsets. Recently I got the opportunity to try out Enhance's intriguing Vibration Gaming Earbuds, as they're titled on the company's website, and came away (somewhat) impressed.

Nine Parchments Xbox One review: Gorgeous visuals in a restricted world

Nine Parchments features great gameplay and environments but the world feels limited.

Nine Parchments is a co-op blast 'em up game from Frozenbyte. Frozenbyte is famous for the Trine franchise and developing magic-based experiences. The title follows a group of runaway apprentice wizards who seize the opportunity to complete their spellbooks by going after the lost Nine Parchments.

Unfortunately, as the would-be wizards rapidly acquire powerful new spells without learning proper safety precautions, it's only natural that their hasty progress results in plenty of deaths.

Early every year the tech industry and press descends upon Barcelona for Mobile World Congress. This year's iteration of the world's largest mobile-focused tech show was dominated by expectations of the Galaxy S9, which in past years drowned out other announcements, so it seemed like most other manufacturers dialed back their expectations for the show. It made for a quiet MWC, but there were still some quality new announcements that stood out.

Best GPUs for Crypto Mining

If you're looking for the right graphics card to get into mining for cryptocurrencies, you need one of these.

Cryptocurrency (and we're not talking Bitcoin here) mining is growing in popularity and is a big part of why graphics cards (GPUs) are so expensive right now. Building a mining rig is different than building a gaming PC, because you need to balance mining performance with how much it costs to get set up and to run.

Mining is an intensive process, and you'll be running the rig at high load for long periods, so things like power draw become crucial. The GTX 1080 Ti is one amazing GPU, but it's also fairly power hungry, so it's not necessarily the best choice for this purpose.

If you're getting into mining, you'll be better suited with one of these.

Best Laptops Under $300 in 2018

Best overall

Acer Aspire 1

See at Amazon

For a laptop that costs about $210, Acer's Aspire 1 has a lot going for it. The 14-inch display sits at a 1080p resolution — something not often found at this price — and has a 720p webcam placed above for easy video conferencing. The Intel Celeron N3450 processor (CPU) has four cores and can hit a clock speed up to 2.2GHz, plus 4GB of RAM keeps things chugging along. The 32GB eMMC storage isn't much but can be expanded using the SD card reader.

Bottom line: The best overall laptop below $300 is the Acer Aspire 1.

One more thing: Our previous pick, the CHUWI 14.1 LapBook, has been discontinued, but you can sometimes still find it for sale on Amazon, albeit for a bit more than $300.

The Netgear R6700 wireless router and CM500 cable modem are bundled together for $88

Free yourself from your ISP and save money, too.

Amazon is offering Netgear's Nighthawk R7600 router and CM500 modem bundled together for just $88.46 right now. Considering, the Nighthawk R6700 router is $80 on its own, and the CM500 modem is $48, you're saving a lot of money with this bundle. This price is $10 better than the previous deal we've seen for it, and the lowest we've ever seen for this bundle.

The Nighthawk R6700 is an awesome router with 19,560 user reviews giving it 4.2 stars. It has high-powered antennas and has technology that boosts range, speed, and performance. It works well in homes with a lot of Wi-Fi devices, which most homes are these days.

We always recommend buying your own cable modem to avoid the rental fees major ISPs charge. And the CM500 is a great machine to do that with because it's a modern device capable of handling some of the fastest plans available.

Chime in: Do you want Live tiles in Microsoft's 'Andromeda' OS?

Should Microsoft continue to push Live tiles with its next attempt at a mobile device? We want to know your thoughts.

Microsoft's next rumored "mobile" device features a new form factor. It's not a smartphone, and it's not a tablet. Rumors suggest it'll be a combination of both, which means it's not something we've seen before.

As such, should Microsoft continue to push its Live tile user-interface? Or should the company attempt something else? We believe Andromeda will feature Live tiles in some capacity, but perhaps it's time to see that interface evolve a bit.

Best Windows 10 apps of February 2018

This month's best apps focus heavily on productivity.

In February, I reviewed and looked at a number of apps that help you get work done. Most of these apps are a bit different than what I normally review, but they save clicks, add features to Windows, and most importantly, help you get things done.

Usually, I focus on apps that are available from the Microsoft Store, but these are so good that they've earned their spot on this list regardless of their distribution channel.

This is our first look at Fitbit's next smartwatch

It'll have a lower price, smaller body, and no GPS.

During Fitbit's latest earnings call earlier this month, CEO James Park said that the company is working on a "mass appeal smartwatch" following disappointing sales of the Fitbit Ionic. Just about a day later, we now have multiple renders showcasing what that smartwatch will look like.

Wareable obtained multiple images of Fitbit's upcoming smartwatch, and while we don't have an exact name for it just yet, it's possible it'll be marketed as either the Fitbit Blaze 2 or something else entirely.

Just like the Ionic, this new smartwatch will run the new Fitbit OS platform that allows for app support, notifications, and more in addition to Fitbit's standard fitness-tracking suite. The new watch is expected to be quite a bit smaller than the Ionic, and it'll come in black, silver, rose gold, and charcoal colors with a variety of different bands.

The smartwatch will be water-resistant up to 50m and comes with the Ionic's SpO2 sensor that'll eventually be able to track sleep apnea, but one thing it won't have is built-in GPS. I'd expect NFC to be on-board so Fitbit can keep pushing its Fitbit Pay platform, but there's no word on this just yet.
