Ubisoft CEO praises Microsoft for dropping Kinect, shifting focus to power of Xbox One X

Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot, has shared his thoughts on the Xbox One X console, praising Microsoft's pursuit of high-end hardware.

Although Microsoft's upcoming flagship console, the Xbox One X, is still a few months away from release, developers are already announcing their plans to take advantage of the hardware going forward. With a significant increase in computational power, both existing and upcoming titles are set to leverage the additional resources.

In an interview with GameSpot, Ubisoft CEO, Yves Guillemot shared his thoughts on the upcoming Xbox One X console, and what it means for the industry overall. Specifically touching on the benefits of having a more powerful console market, Guillemot emphasized such a move shows more promise than Microsoft's previous push for the ill-fated Kinect sensor.

We did a deal with Microsoft on Assassin's Creed: Origins, which is taking really good advantage of the power of the machine. We like very much what they are doing because instead of having a Kinect or something this time the industry went after more power for the machine, so more immersion, better AI, and overall better games.

Microsoft released first Office suite of apps (for Mac?!) on August 1, 1989

Exactly 28 years ago today, Microsoft packaged its existing Office productivity apps for the first time and sold them together. But the initial version of the iconic Office suite was only available for Apple's Macintosh computers.

On August 1, 1989, Microsoft debuted what would become its most well-known set of software programs, the Microsoft Office suite, according to the company. At the time, individual Office apps had been available for Mac, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. But August 1 marked the first time they were packaged and sold together, according to MakeUseOf.com.

The Office suite was released for Windows during October of 1990, a little more than a year after the Mac package.

Why did Microsoft release Office for Mac first? According to YourMacExpert.com, the Mac audience was less important to Microsoft's success, so it felt more comfortable testing features and changes on the Mac versions before officially rolling them out for Windows. How to customize power button action when pressed on Windows 10

Although nowadays it's more common to use the power options in the Start menu to shut down Windows 10, there are still many users who feel more comfortable pressing the hardware power button to turn off their computers.

Titanfall 2 is now free via the EA Access 'Vault' for Xbox One

Titanfall 2 is now available for free, as a part of an EA Access subscription for Xbox One or Origin Access subscription on PC.

Earlier this month Electronic Arts detailed a wave of new titles on the way to its subscription-based Xbox One game distribution service, EA Access. Among these titles were two of last year's blockbusters – Battlefield 1, and Respawn's sleek mech-filled shooter, Titanfall 2. It now appears that Titanfall 2 is now playable for free with an EA Access membership, via the service's free-to-play library of titles.

When Titanfall 2 first released last October, many praised the huge variety in the package at the time. While its new single-player campaign was a huge draw, Titanfall 2's stylish multiplayer also made a return with a new coat of paint. Although several other shooters that released during the period overshadowed Titanfall 2, the game is still a great well-rounded shooter with some improvements upon the first installment.
