Rainbow Six Siege Burnt Horizon update requires 54 GB download

Rainbow Six Siege's new Burnt Horizon update brings exciting changes – but it's a big one.

Operation Burnt Horizon is the next major update planned for Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, with multiplayer content exploring an Australian setting. While debuting two playable Aussie Operators and the new Outback map, Burnt Horizon also brings various new tweaks and fixes to players. Ubisoft has also scheduled work under the hood, optimizing game installations to reduce file sizes. You'll just need to download a hefty update this March.

As detailed via the Rainbow Six Twitter account, Burnt Horizon will require up to an estimated 54GB download once deployed on March 6. PC players will need the full 54GB package, Xbox One requires 38GB, and PlayStation 4 demands only 33GB. While more substantial than previous Rainbow Six Siege seasons, the move should reduce installation sizes as Year 4 approaches.

To help optimize player experience for future updates, we are also in the process of restructuring how our game data is stored – this will help consolidate and reduce the overall game size. This means that the Burnt Horizon Patch will be larger than normal.
