How to install PoGo-UWP beta for Pokémon Go on your Windows 10 Mobile phone

Pokémon Go has landed on Windows 10 Mobile in the form of an open-source beta client called PoGo-UWP.

ST-Apps and other developers are contributing to the project on Github, albeit without the blessing of the game's developer, Niantic Labs. While we wait to find out if Niantic and Nintendo will give us an official client, PoGo-UWP might be the best hope we have for playing Pokémon Go on Windows 10 Mobile.

PoGo-UWP might be missing some major features, but it still functions fairly well for such an early version. The app isn't currently available on the Windows 10 Store, but you can download and install the necessary files for free, providing you have a PC, Windows 10 Mobile, and home WiFi network to get set up.

We've put together a step-by-step guide complete with a detailed video on how to PoGo-UWP for Pokemon Go running on your Windows 10 Mobile phone.

Another Xbox One Preview build is rolling out, one day after the console's Summer Update

The Xbox One Summer Update only rolled out to the public yesterday, but that hasn't stopped the Xbox team dropping yet another build to members of the Preview Program.

Despite only delivering one fix, today's update is notable due to the small window between the previous build's public release and the announcement of today's Preview build. The update, titled rs1_xbox_rel_1608.160729-1700, will begin rolling out to Preview Program members at 6 p.m. PDT.

Here is the changelog for today's update:

Mobile Nations Weekly: Anniversary Update

BlackBerry's newest phone is a new approach and Microsoft ramps up for the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

Microsoft is updating in a big way — the week past brought a huge update for the Xbox One and the week ahead will be bringing the huge Windows 10 Anniversary Update to PCs. The Xbox update brings the console's feature set even closer to that of core Windows, including the addition of Windows 10 app support and Microsoft's virtual assistant Cortana.

BlackBerry's seond Android phone is here, and it's a mouthful: the BlackBerry DTEK50. Billed as the "world's most secure smartphone", the DTEK50 is actually a re-badge of the Alcatel Idol 4 — made by BlackBerry contractor and Alcatel owner TCL.

Apple's earnings report landed, and as expected, they made several buckets worth of money. And in an interesting twist, an Apple veteran is back to take over their not-so-secret car project.

There's all of that and so much more — like a VR roller coaster inside a real-life amusement park — in this edition of Mobile Nations Weekly!

While there is no official Pokemon Go client for Windows 10 Mobile - and no signs of one coming anytime soon, either - users now have a glimmer of hope with PoGo-UWP. The open source project started by ST-Apps is available on Github and while it takes a little effort to get it installed (especially if you do not already have a Pokémon Trainer Club account logged into the real Pokemon Go app) it is a significant step for fans of the game..

How do you get Pokémon Go on Windows 10 mobile? With the PoGo-UWP Universal Windows Platform client!

Up until now, Windows 10 and Windows 10 Mobile users have been shut out of the fun, with very little information on whether or not we'll ever get an official app, like Pokémon Go on iPhone enjoys. Thankfully, ST-Apps has managed to port Pokemon Go to UWP (via Reddit), running it as an open source project on Github. This is an early beta test version, so it's missing a lot of Pokemon Go's best features including the game's augmented reality features and 3D models.

Still, if you want to help test the app and contribute to development, you'll need to follow some simple, but advanced steps to get it running on your phone, as it's not available in the Windows 10 Store. All you need is a PC and Windows 10 Mobile connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Here's what you need to know.

These are the five biggest changes with the Xbox One Summer Update

Shaken up by the new Xbox One Summer Update? Here's what changed!

With the arrival of the Xbox One Summer Update, a number of significant changes have made their way to the console. Arriving shortly ahead of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update for PC and Mobile, the Summer Update continues to unify the Xbox One with the overarching Windows ecosystem.

Alterations have been made to numerous aspects of the Xbox One experience, with a focus on media consumption and refined accessibility. While these changes can be seen system-wide, we've picked the five biggest changes you'll see after upgrading to the latest version of the operating system.

One Size Fits All

Universal apps and the new Store

One of the biggest features to hit the Xbox One with the Summer Update is support for Windows Universal apps, which have become a growing focus with Windows 10. Simply put, developers are able to design applications for the Universal Windows Platform and with only a few minimal changes, the application can run on any Windows 10 device. This rebuilds the experience around the device in use while maintaining a majority of its original functionality.

While this hasn't proven to be an entirely seamless process on Microsoft's closed console, a number of functional apps are now on the Store. As of right now only a select range of apps have made their way to the Xbox One, with more to come in the near future. Apps currently available on Xbox One include video services such as Netflix and Hulu and social apps such as Baconit.

How to unlink and set your language, region, and keyboard settings on Xbox One

Have you ever taken your Xbox One to another country?

If you have, you may have stumbled across some rather inconvenient barriers. Until now, things like the interface language and the keyboard language were locked by region. This created issues when living abroad while maintaining a Microsoft Account and payment options in your home country, as well as for nations which practice multiple languages. Additionally, some titles simply have poor localization, with multi-lingual users preferring to play games in a language separate from their console's store region.

Here's how you can buy Windows 10 for your PC now that the free upgrade is over

It's July 30. For many Windows 7 and 8.1 PC and tablet owners, it's also the first day that the free one year offer to upgrade their OS to Windows 10 is no longer available. The only exception is if you are using a PC that needs assistive technologies; if that's the case, Microsoft has extended the free Windows 10 upgrade offer for an undetermined amount of time.

However, if you really want to get Windows 10 installed on your PC, you still have the option to purchase the OS. Be warned; it's going to be a rather pricey decision if you go that route.

Here are all the Universal apps launching with the Xbox One Summer Update

With the arrival of the Xbox One's Summer Update, a range of new features has been introduced to further merge the console into the Windows ecosystem. Among the additions is a new universal storefront, which unifies the existing Xbox Store with its Windows counterpart.

As a part of the update, support has been added for Universal Windows applications on the Xbox One. At this point in time, the rollout has been slow but steady, with only a few apps currently on the console. We've compiled a list of all the Universal Windows apps available on the Xbox One today.

With the new Xbox Store, it's not currently possible to link to apps for the console. As a workaround, applications installed on your Windows 10 devices will appear in the 'Ready to Install' section on your Xbox One console. Alternatively, applications can be searched for on the console via the Xbox Store.

Gear up for football season with Touchdown Hero: New Season

Touchdown Hero: New Season is a fast-paced endless runner game where you guide a single running back through a host of defensive players to score a touchdown. While the game sounds simple, once you score a touchdown the game transitions to a new football field where you try to run the field and score another touchdown.

Graphics have a retro feel, similar to old school Madden NFL games, and gameplay offers a nice range of challenges that increase as you score more touchdowns. Touchdown Hero: New Season isn't an overly complicated game to pick up and play, but don't be shocked if you find yourself being tackled for a loss more times than not.

Touchdown Hero: New Season is a free Xbox game available for Windows 10 PC and Mobile, as well as Windows 8.1 PC and Phones. It's a simple game, but a fun way to get you in the mood for the upcoming football season.

How to create and use a password reset disk in Windows 10

How do I make a password reset disk on Windows 10?

Forgetting a password can be one of the more frustrating things to deal with, and if you're unlucky enough to have forgotten the password to your Windows 10 PC account, you may be cursing to the heavens, so to speak. The good news is you can avoid this by creating a password reset disk.

Important note: A password reset disk only works with a Local account on your PC, not a Microsoft account. The steps for recovering a Microsoft account password are different.

What is a password reset disk?

A password reset disk is a file you create on a USB drive or an SD card that when plugged into your Windows PC will allow you to reset your password right on the lock screen.

The best part about the password reset disk is that you only have to create it once, and it will work forever, no matter how many times you have to use it.
