Microsoft starts letting Insiders test Office 365 from the Windows Store

A new way to distribute the Office 365 is getting close as Microsoft starts testing the productivity suite in its app store.

In June, Microsoft started selling the Surface Laptop with Windows 10 S – a restricted version of Windows 10 Pro that could only install apps from the Windows Store. Microsoft solved the problem of getting those devices Office 365 by putting the full suite in the Windows Store and using the Desktop Bridge. Dubbed Office 365 Preview the system let the user download all or single apps of the Office 365 suite with just a click.

It was always expected that Office 365 would be available to everyone through the Windows Store for those on Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro and today the company is expanding the Preview to Insiders.

Preview: The Evil Within 2 literally gave me nightmares

I went hands-on with The Evil Within 2, and it literally gave me nightmares.

It was 4 a.m. in my Gamescom hotel with fellow Windows Central Xbox writer Matt Brown, when I awoke to hear him mumbling in his sleep. He did that quite a lot throughout the event, but it was only when he rolled over and I saw his face crushed with skin twisted around his skull, eyes bloodied and rolled back into his head, did I awake in a cold sweat, realizing I was having a nightmare.

You see, earlier that day, I went hands-on with The Evil Within 2, and it was bloody terrifying.

This $39 30000mAh portable charger will keep your smartphone powered up for days

The Thrifter team has another deal -- this time on a gigantic battery charger down to a great low price!

The Aukey USB-C 30000mAh portable charger is down to $38.99 with code AUPOWER8. This charger has predominantly sold for around $50 since its release earlier this year. Aukey releases a lot of coupon codes, which can be hard to track, but there have not been a lot of direct price drops on this charger ever before.

Aukey's charger comes with two USB ports, including a Quick Charge 3.0 port, in addition to a USB-C port. The 30000mAh charge means it could ideally charge an iPhone 7 nine times before needing to refuel. That's a lot of juice in one device. It can charge a Nintendo Switch while playing, slowly charge a 12-inch MacBook, and it works with Android devices too.

The charger comes with a two-year warranty.

Logitech Craft keyboard has an amazing built-in Surface Dial

Logitech's sublime new Craft keyboard is worth its hefty price.

For the past few weeks, I've been propping my laptop (a Dell XPS 13) on a stand and connecting to a mouse and keyboard for the first time in years. I have stations around my house for working (including an underused standing desk) so the idea of plopping myself on an office chair to work for eight hours didn't seem like a lot of fun.

And then I got the Logitech Craft keyboard. This thing is amazing. I've never used a mechanical keyboard, nor have I really thought about how much better my ergonomic situation could be if I made some adjustments to my input methods.

Lenovo's Explorer Mixed Reality headset starts at just $349.99

Plug in and Explorer.

It's been a while since we first saw Lenovo's first take on a mixed reality headset designed to work with Windows 10. But now, here at IFA 2017, it's finally a formal announcement: this is the Lenovo Explorer.

Like all of the other Windows Mixed Reality headsets, the Explorer offers inside-out tracking via motion sensors and a pair of outward-facing cameras on the front corners of the headset. These cameras give the Lenovo Explorer both spatial awareness and room tracking, as well as keeping tabs on the Microsoft-designed motion controllers.

Lenovo is touting the broad capabilities of the Explorer, thanks to Windows Mixed Reality, including watching shows "in a virtual home office environment" (personally, I watch shows in my living room, but I'm weird like that), VR games, 360° video, and even the ability to "get things done with Microsoft Office suite."

Lenovo's Yoga 720 is a mild update to a mild convertible

The Yoga 700-series was never ground-breaking, but it offered decent specs for a decent price.

While the 900-series Yoga convertible laptops might steal all of the thunder, the 700-series is making waves its own — especially with the new Yoga 720.

The Yoga 720 goes for thin and light, offering a 12.5-inch display in a 15.75mm-thick convertible laptop form factor that weighs just 1.15kg. Considering that similarly-sized laptops were recently announced that weigh barely less, that's quite the feat for a convertible — especially in the Yoga 720's price range.

The Yoga 720 is set to start at $649, and to bring the price down some sacrifices had to be made. For one, the signature watchband hinge of the 900 series didn't make it down here, instead Lenovo has opted for a more traditional 360° convertible hinges at each corner. They're still more than adequate, easily and solidly transitioning between laptop, stand, tent, and tablet modes.
